New Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box

The current flat-rate box, which gives customers a single, predetermined rate regardless of the weight or delivery zone, was introduced in November 2004. The new, larger box extends the agency’s successful flat-rate offerings, providing more choices for small businesses and consumers.

“We listened to our customers, and we’re giving them a new box that lets them ship larger items while still enjoying the benefits of a flat rate,” said Postmaster General John Potter. “Flat-rate boxes are very popular and the new, larger version provides even more value.”

The new Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box (12" x 12" x 5½") can be used for both domestic and international shipments. This extends the flat-rate price and ease-of-use benefits to international shippers. There is also a 5 percent online discount.

There will be a special version of the box for the military, with a $2 discount, if shipped to an Army Post Office or Fleet Post Office (APO/FPO) address.

All Postal Service Priority and Express Mail packages and envelopes are environmentally friendly, exceeding the highest standards for recyclability.

  • Domestic Shipping $12.95
  • Military Shipping
  • APO/FPO Addresses $10.95

Family Day at Ironworld to be held Jan. 19

In addition to providing materials for the Valentines, Ironworld will aceept items to be distributed to soldiers through OMN-Grand Rapids region.

Ironworld is the largest museum complex in the region. They are dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of Minnesota's iron ranges.

As the Minnesota mining industry exploded at the turn of the century, people seeking economic prosperity and freedom immigrated to northern Minnesota from nations around the globe. These immigrants brought few material goods on their journey, but carried with them rich traditions and customs of their homelands. Ironworld preserves thisimportant piece of American history by telling the story of the life, the work, the place and the people of the Iron Range.

Please join us Saturday, January 19th, for Family Day at Ironworld in Chisholm, Minnesota.

Diversified Plastics packing party sends 221 pounds!

Diversified Plastics collected 221 pounds of goodies for our troops and had a great packing party. They expressed their appreciation with a note -

"We wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for giving us names of soldiers so we could make care packages for them. We took 30 names and filled every box! We were so please to help out any way that we could. The total pounds of 'goodies' that we sent was 221 pounds! Employees from all 3 shifts and every department participated. You could tell that they were very excited to do something to let our soldiers know that even though some people don’t agree with why we are in this conflict…we all are extremely grateful to our soldiers and for their service to our country. We are very proud of all of them!!!! Here are some photos of our employees and the care packages that we sent."

A Special Thank you to Fine Impressions!!

Operation Minnesota Nice received a very generous donation of 10,250 holiday cards to send to the soldiers serving abroad to send to their families by Fine Impressions of North Mankato.

There are nearly 700 soldiers on OMN's distribution list, and we were able to send approximately 15holiday cards to each one. We have been busy folding and boxing them up to get them out to the bases that we have soldiers at so that they have them in time to send to their families and friends. Holiday cards are hard to come by in the Middle East so this is an especially wonderful gift.

A very heartfelt THANK YOU to Fine Impressions of North Mankato.

Happy Holidays to you All!!

BAE Systems donations drive collects over 1,700lbs. for OMN!!

An article from the BAE Systems Land & Armaments Information Systems department...

"A Flag Day picnic for the BAE Systems Land & Armaments Information Systems (IS) department became more than just a department picnic celebration for 125 people. The IS Business Administration team developed and promoted a competition among co-workers on 12 separate teams to see who could pack the most items into a container. Publicity from an article about OMN in the Elk River Star News, drew the attention of the Administrative team as a very timely and worthy cause. Due to OMN’s “commitment to making a difference in the lives of those that are serving abroad in a time of conflict”, BAE Systems vision to Protect Freedom Through Excellence in Armaments, and the fact that the picnic was on Flag Day, the idea was a hit.

Even though participation was optional, over 70% of the IS department participated and the response was overwhelming. Over 1,000 lbs of items were collected – most of which were delivered to Operation Minnesota Nice. The remaining items were shipped to two soldiers from BAE Systems Louisville office and two soldiers who are family members of employees at the Fridley office.

Taking note of the outstanding response and generosity of BAE’s Minneapolis and Louisville Information Systems employees, the Controllers department planned a similar event for their picnic July 28th. The result was another 700 lbs of donated items for Operation Minnesota Nice! In addition, two relatives of the Controllers department personnel who are currently serving in Iraq are receiving goodie boxes of donated items. BAE Systems commends and thanks our service men and women and the efforts of Operation Minnesota Nice!"

A special Thank You to the employees of BAE Systems!!

Operation Minnesota Nice would like to extend our gratitude for what the employees of BAE Systems has done to show their support for our troops!
